Tapping into the Chicago Yoga Community

June 16, 2015

On May 30, members of the yoga community gathered at Wanderlust 108 in Chicago, IL. Wanderlust 108 brings together a 5k race, outdoor yoga experiences and guided meditation. Attendees took part in fun lawn activities like hula hooping, slacklining, and acro-yoga practice. Despite rainy skies, the weather did not deter over 1,200 people from attending.

Yoga Alliance® spokesman Andrew Tanner, E-RYT 500, and volunteers oversaw the YA booth and met attendees throughout the day.

The next day, we also hosted a Community Meet-Up while in the area. The Meet-Up took place at the Moksha Yoga Center on May 31st. Before the main presentation, YA offered free professional headshots for yoga professionals. Andrew Tanner discussed current and future trends in the yoga industry. He also talked about YA’s work on legal and regulatory issues and other important topics for the yoga community. After his presentation, Andrew answered questions from attendees. Attendees also met Michael Alexander, a lobbyist hired by YA to gather more information about the state's attempts to regulate yoga.

Thank you to all who joined us in Chicago for a memorable trip! Keep an eye on Our Calendar for more upcoming events.
