Big Victory in the Missouri House, Moving on to the Senate!

February 11, 2016

Thanks to the support of the Yoga Alliance® community and the diligent efforts of Rep. Elijah Haahr, Rep. Caleb Jones, and local yogis who testified in committee hearings and sent in letters of support, the Missouri House of Representatives voted 146-7 today to pass a bill we are supporting!

This legislation, HB 1681, protects the rights of yoga teacher training programs to operate in Missouri without unnecessary regulation. We were thrilled when it passed the House Emerging Issues Committee and the Committee on General Laws – both by unanimous vote – and are now celebrating another big win in the Show Me State!

Next steps:

You reached out to your representatives in the House, they listened, and now is the time to move on to the Senate. The Senate version of the bill, SB 941, is up for consideration by the Senate Education Committee soon. Stay tuned for updates and our next opportunity to make our voices heard!

A big thank you to all of the policymakers who supported this legislation for being champions of the Missouri yoga community!
