Overall Implementation Timeline

Last Updated: February 27, 2020

A major outcome of the Standards Review Project is the up-leveling of the standards underlying the Registered Yoga School (RYS) credentials. We began with the foundational RYS 200, our most-widely held school-based credential, and will announce the new standards for the professional RYS 300 and RYS 500 credentials in June 2020. Our intention was and is to be purposeful, moving at a measured pace with as little disruption as possible to the livelihoods of our members schools and teachers.

Beginning February 27, 2020, all new RYS 200 programs will apply under these up-leveled standards via an enhanced application process. By February 2022, all Yoga Alliance RYS 200 programs will operate under these same standards and a common core curriculum.
